Ms. Aliona Niculita, a native of the Republic of Moldova, joined UNDP in 2005. Before joining UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic, since 2012 she served as the Deputy Country Director in the Republic of Tajikistan covering both programme and operations. Between 2010 and 2012 she was the UNDP Senior Assistant Resident Representative in Moldova covering a broad range of responsibilities from programme design to implementation and oversight of operations’ Service Center.
From November 2010 to May 2011 Ms. Niculita worked as UNDP South Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic coordinating UNDP programme interventions of Peace and Development, Poverty Reduction, Democratic Governance and Disaster Risk Management programmes implemented in the South after the June events.
Between 2005 and 2010 Ms. Niculita worked as Programme Analyst/Portfolio Manager covering local governance, regional development and confidence building programmes. In 2009 she supported UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS at HQ in New York as the Programme Specialist on a detail assignment.
Ms. Niculita started her career in 1993 as public servant with the State Department for Youth and Sports of the Government of Moldova and has extensive experience working with CSOs in the area of governance, elections, local economic development and confidence building.
Ms. Niculita holds degrees in law from the Law Academy and history from the State University of Moldova.
