The World Food Programme

WFP is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against hunger.

WFP continually responds to emergencies, saving lives by getting food to the hungry fast. WFP works to address food insecurity over the long-term, through programmes that use food and cash as a means to build assets, spread knowledge and nurture stronger, more dynamic communities.

Since launching its operations in the Kyrgyz Republic, WFP’s overarching objective has been to strengthen the Government’s capacity to reduce food insecurity and undernutrition and to support long-term resilience of communities. Current activities focus on school meals optimization, rural development, social protection, disaster risk management and climate change adaptation.
