A new state new program to overcome HIV-infection for 2017-2018 has been discussed


27 January Bishkek was held a round table to discuss the draft of the new  State program to overcome HIV-infection for  2017-2018 was convened.

The main issue discussed during the meeting was transition to domestic funding of HIV prevention programmes. Representatives of the Ministry of Health and National AIDS Center have assumed a coordinating role for the elaboration of the Road map, which will integrate all resources to build effective interaction between all national partners. According to the head of the NGO "Partners network"- Aibar Sultangaziev, 90% of prevention programmes are supported by the international donor agencies. Financing for the period from 2017 to 2020, reduced twice, which may affect significantly the epidemiological situation.

UNAIDS Country Manager, Sarybaeva Meerim, suggested that the country had made progress in prevention programmes, but  there are still unresolved tasks, which include investments, improvement of investment legislation and the elimination of stigma and discrimination at all levels. These issues are not only a priority of UNAIDS in the country but are key strategies of the new programme. The initiator of the meeting an association "Partners network", Joint United Nations programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS) and a number of partners.
